Well, 2002 will go down as the most successful year
so far in Sacramento Spay Day history (so far). One
hundred and thirty-three (133!) animals were spayed
or neutered at the SSPCA and All About Pets clinics
on Sunday, February 24, 2002.
A
team of over 40 people assisted in making these surgeries
a reality.
We
got television coverage on Channels 3 and 13 along with
a radio interview on KFBK. Dr. Angelo Stanton and Dr.
Erin Felton were interviewed on television and gave
great reasons for people to get their pets spayed or
neutered. The UCD vet med students got a great experience
once again and the volunteers worked tirelessly. The
SSPCA event did not finish up until after 8 pm, after
opening at 7 am!!
We
couldn't do it without our fearless leader, Margaret
Warhuus! She worked since last Spay Day to produce another
successful event. Many may thanks also to Dr. Lynda
Zucca and her staff at All About Pets, the Sacramento
SPCA, United Animal Nations, Common Sense Dog Training,
Dr. Jill Roberts-Wilson, Jason Schaefer and to all the
volunteers, especially those that worked all day long
(like Pam Runquist and Lisa DeCarlo). Though a lot of
work, Spay Day continues to provide a real need in the
community through the surgeries and the message we get
across. THANK YOU!
