Spay and Neuter for Feral Cats

The SAAC Feral Cat Assistance Program helps colony caregivers obtain affordable spay/neuter surgeries for feral cats. Eligible applicants receive coupons for spay/neuter surgeries, which can be redeemed at participating veterinary clinics for a small co-payment.

Eligibility varies depending on our funding. Please read this page carefully to determine if you are eligible for the SAAC Feral Cat Assistance Program.

Current Eligibility Requirements

The SAAC Feral Coupon program is issuing coupons for the following jurisdictions:

  • Unincorporated areas of Sacramento County including Galt and Isleton
  • Sacramento City

 If You Don’t Qualify

Please see our list of other low-cost spay/neuter resources.

The Sacramento SPCA offers Sunday clinics for feral cats.

How the Program Works

  • Complete our online application, which includes selecting a vet clinic to use

  • Feral coupons are to be used only for unowned, feral (i.e. not tame) cats

  • You may receive up to two coupons at a time

  • If your application is approved, you will receive an email with coupon numbers and the SAAC Feral Cat Assistance Program Guidelines

  • Do not trap until you have received approval from SAAC, read the guidelines thoroughly, and contacted your selected clinic to make sure they can accommodate your cat(s)

  • All cats get an ears tip to identify them as a feral

  • There is a $10 copayment per coupon for cats from Rancho Cordova and Yolo County. There is no copayment for cats from unincorporated Sacramento County.

  • Coupons expire in 30 days

  • Once your coupons are used or have expired, you can request additional coupons

  • If you have questions after receiving your coupons and the Feral Cat Assistance Program Guidelines, please send an e-mail to ferals@sacanimal.org.
