SAAC Feral Cat Coupon Program

Important Information Regarding SAAC Feral Cat Coupon Program: VCA Elk Grove Animal Hospital and Kittel Family Veterinary Practice are accepting only a limited number of feral coupons each week, so please be patient if you are selecting these clinics. Also, VCA Elk Grove only performs the surgeries for the feral cats on Tuesdays so you will need to call to confirm availability of surgery slots. We are receiving a large number of applications every week and working to bring more clinics on board. Other new clinics include Family Friends Veterinary Hospital in Citrus Heights, which is open seven days per week, and Sacramento SPCA, which accepts the coupons Monday through Saturday.

Please be sure to read the Feral Coupon Guidelines and call the clinic you select in advance to make sure they have space before trapping and bringing a cat in for surgery. Also remember to bring a copy of your coupon with you to the clinic.

  • Feral coupons are to be used only for unowned, feral (i.e. not tame) cats.
  • You may receive up to two coupons at a time. The coupons expire in 30 days. Once your coupons are used or have expired, you can request additional coupons.
  • If your application is approved, you will receive an email with the coupon approval that includes a link to the SAAC Feral Coupon Guidelines. Do not trap until you have received approval from SAAC and read the guidelines thoroughly. Please note, we cannot issue coupons if you’ve already trapped the cats and brought them to the vet.
  • It is mandatory that all cats get their ears tipped to identify them as a feral.
  • If your colony is located in an unincorporated area of Sacramento County or in the cities of Citrus Heights, Isleton or Galt, there will be no payment charged for the coupon. (This is thanks to a grant from the Sacramento County Department of Animal Care and Regulation). For all other areas, a co-payment of $10 per cat is required. You will pay this directly to the vet clinic. You will be notified when your coupon is approved if your copay will be waived.
